Preparing to Write Autobiographical Inspired Works
The material for this presentation is drawn from experience gained while writing and doing the research for my first book, Through a Lens of Emptiness: Reflections on Life, Longevity and Contentment. In this talk I address tasks a prospective autobiographer or memoirist faces as he prepares to write. They are four in number. First he must recall significant people and events related to his life experience. Then he needs to evaluate the interactions, inter-relationships, and interdependencies between those people and events and himself. He must also consider the impact of social, economic, and political influences on his life experience. Finally, a framework is applied to the information gathered which becomes a temporal and factual template supporting the production of a first draft autobiography or memoir.
